Phuket Town: City Living, for Renters and Buyers
By Islander Home Team
Phuket Town is the island’s hub for everyday life and work. It is home to the historic old town with its Sino-Portuguese shophouses, weekend markets, Central Phuket and other major shopping centres, as well as the main hospitals and government offices. It is not a beach town, and that is precisely why it is the most affordable place on the island to rent or buy property.
The figures below are based on our listings as of late October 2026.

Who Phuket Town suits
- People who work in Phuket. Offices, hospitals, schools and government services are all nearby.
- First-time buyers. Phuket Town has the lowest entry prices on our list, including condos that foreigners can own outright.
- Anyone who enjoys city life. Restaurants, cafés, night markets and the historic old town are right on your doorstep.
The trade-off is access to the sea. The nearest good swimming beaches are 20 to 30 minutes' drive away. If you prefer to live near the beach, consider Rawai or Bang Tao instead.
