Chalong is an area of Phuket that many long-term residents eventually choose to call home. Located in the southern part of the island, it sits between Phuket Town and the beaches of Rawai, Nai Harn and Kata. The area is home to Chalong Pier, Wat Chalong, the Big Buddha on the hill above it, Robinson Chalong for shopping, and several international schools within a short drive.

Who Chalong suits
- Families. Several international schools are just a short drive away, and many homes are located in quiet residential estates with gardens.
- Renters looking for a pool without the beachfront price tag. Chalong offers the widest selection of pool villas under ฿80,000 a month on our list.
- Boat and island lovers. Chalong Pier is the departure point for many island trips.
- People who want a central location. Phuket Town, Rawai and Kata are all roughly 15 to 20 minutes away, depending on traffic.
The main trade-off is the beach. Chalong Bay is a working bay with boats and piers rather than a swimming beach. If you want to be within walking distance of sandy shores, consider Rawai or Bang Tao.
